Family Connection Center

War on Poverty-Florida, has developed programming to offer after-school homework assistance and enrichment activities for students; as well as service coordination, money management education and advocacy training for parents. This highly impactful program is designed to make a difference in the lives of students and their families.

Family Connection Center - Parent Engagement

Reaching and involving all parents and families is important in order to educate all students at high standards.  War on Poverty-Florida facilitates workshops using Raising Highly Capable Kids curriculum for developing 40 developmental assets.

The Family Connection Center is facilitated through our parent organizing support services, offering parent and family resource services designed to engage parents and families in communities.

  Studies have found that students with involved parents, no matter what their income or background, are more likely to—

• Earn high grades and test scores, and enroll in higher-level programs;

• Pass their classes, earn credits, and be promoted;

• Attend school regularly; and

• Graduate and enroll in post-secondary educational institutions, or matriculate to living wage jobs and careers.
